If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him (Revelation 3:20).
During a visit to a painting gallery, one of those noticed a rather peculiar and incomprehensible painting depicting a closed door, which seemed to give access to a very precious and private area.
What was incomprehensible, however, was that that door did not seem to be able to be, in any way, opened from the outside, without a handle and without a lock.
The man asked the painter for explanations about the meaning of that portrait.
The author told him, “In my painting, I wanted to represent the heart of man, which, like that door, cannot be opened except from the inside.”
That artist was not wrong; man’s heart is just made that way.
Too many times, people go to the Lord, calling on Him at a difficult juncture, attending some church service, but do not give Him the space He is due in their lives.
Jesus is at your door and has been knocking, perhaps for too long already.
Today, if you decide to open to Him, He will give you the refreshment of His ineffable presence, which never makes your heart gloomy, but widens it toward bright horizons you never imagined.
