Stay with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is almost over.” (Luke 24:29)
Two disciples were walking to a village called Emmaus, leaving behind the outskirts of Jerusalem, where Christ had been crucified.
Their hearts were troubled, and they were discussing the events that had just happened. Although some women had testified to His resurrection, they were perplexed.
The Lord approached them and began to explain the prophecies concerning Him.
As they listened to His voice and the Scriptures were unveiled in their minds, they felt such deep comfort that their faith was rekindled, making their hearts burn. So,
although they did not recognize Him, they invited Jesus to stop with them, and He accepted.
Do you have someone who can comfort you in your afflictions, who has definite answers to counter your perplexities?
Christ is unique; those disciples sensed this and did not want to let Him go. Perhaps you know many people and can boast of having many friends. Be certain, however, that none of them can ever speak to your heart like Jesus.
